PORA represents Sun City West residents with Maricopa County Officials in all matters related to development of Residential Master Plans and Subdivisions. When a new residential development is proposed in the Sun City West area, PORA receives a copy of the Developer's submittal to Maricopa County.

 

The submittal is thoroughly reviewed in respect to how the proposed development will affect SCW. When appropriate, recommendations and stipulations are drafted for review by the President of PORA and then presented at a scheduled TAC meeting conducted by the County P.D. representative. After the TAC meeting, the Developer's request is presented to the County Planning and Zoning Commission for approval. This hearing is open to the public. PORA is represented at this meeting if the submittal affects issues deemed important to SCW.

 

Violations of County Zoning Ordinances within SCW, such as the use of illegal signs, are also presented to PORA for investigation and action. Members of the Planning and Zoning Committee visit businesses, for example, who violate County Ordinances regarding signs. We request their compliance with the directives. Most businesses are very cooperative and remove the offending signs quickly. The few that refuse to comply are reported to the County as violators and a request is made for County action.

 

PORA welcomes residents' reasonable requests for assistance whenever zoning issues arise. PORA's Directors are always available to SCW residents.
