“Sun City West has some of the best maintained roads in Arizona, thanks to the close working relationship between PORA and the Maricopa County Department of Transportation.”
PORA Works For You!
The PORA Roads, Safety and Traffic Committee meets monthly with representatives from the Maricopa Department of Transportation, the SCW Posse and Sun City West residents. The committee also meets with the Arizona Department of Transportation when necessary.
Sun City West residents in attendance often include persons with a complaint or question about our roads or safety.
The chairman also presents any written or e-mailed concerns to the committee for action.
Important information is posted on the PORA web site. Some of the items discussed on a regular basis include schedules for traffic light installation, road construction and repair, No Parking signs, crosswalks, speeding concerns, restriping, sidewalk repair, median repair, and improving turning lanes. Members on the committee report regularly on roads needing inspection and repair and on various areas where parking problems exist. Recently a Pedestrian Safety Subcommittee initiated a project to improve crosswalks in the center of SCW. County representatives usually respond positively to our concerns for requested improvements.
The public is encouraged to attend the PORA Roads, Traffic & Safety Committee meettings on the fourth Wednesday of the month (except July and August) at 1:30 p.m. - subject to change without notice. See the PORA calendar for any schedule changes or call 623-584-4288.
