Comment period begins today and continues through Nov. 6
The public comment period about final design of the 2.2-mile roadway corridor located north of Loop 303 begins today and continues through 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6. Use this link to review design information, including the presentation and other materials the City of Peoria and Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) will share at the public meeting:

The project is being constructed to accommodate current and future travel demand, provide a new connection to Loop 303, improve local and regional connectivity, increase roadway capacity and enhance opportunities for future development. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2028 and last about 1.5 years. Project improvements will include:
Extending and widening El Mirage Road from Loop 303 to Jomax Road to provide two travel lanes in each direction, separated by a raised median, with a six-foot-wide bicycle lane and eight-foot-wide sidewalk in both directions.
Restriping 2,000 feet of El Mirage Road between Corte Bella Drive and Loop 303 (no new construction or roadway reconstruction will occur south of Loop 303).
Constructing crossings over the McMicken Dam Outlet Channel and the Beardsley Canal.
Signalizing the El Mirage Road intersections at the Loop 303 traffic interchange and Happy Valley Road.
Installing roundabouts at Mariposa Grande, Coldwater Ranch Drive and Jomax Road.
In addition to attending the public meeting, members of the public can submit comments and ask questions in the following ways:

The planned El Mirage Road connection between Loop 303 and Jomax Road could provide another route for drivers traveling south from northern Surprise. But what could that mean for traffic in Corte Bella and Sun City West?
Depending on their destinations and congestion on Loop 303, motorists may choose El Mirage Road or seek alternate routes through nearby communities.

Our concern: Could this project increase cut-through traffic on our neighborhood streets?
The City of Peoria and ADOT will present the final design for the El Mirage Road project on Wednesday, October 21. This is an important opportunity for Sun City West residents to understand the planned improvements, learn how traffic impacts have been addressed, and raise questions about potential effects on our community.
